BORROWING POLICY:

Books circulate for 3 weeks unless otherwise indicated.  Videos and DVD's circulate for 2 days.

Fines are 5 cents per day for books, 50 cents per day for videos and DVD's.

1.00 fine for not rewinding videos.

Library cards are free to first time members.  There will be a fee of $2.00 for replacement cards.

 MONTGOMERY AREA PUBLIC LIBRARY

PATRON POLICY

In order to allow all patrons of Montgomery Area Public Library to use its facilities to the fullest extent during its regularly scheduled hours, the Board of Trustees has adopted the following rules and regulations:

1.  Patrons shall be engaged in activities associated with the use of a public library while in the building.  Patrons not engaged in reading, studying, or using library materials may be required to the leave the building.

2.  Patrons shall not consume food or beverages, smoke, use tobacco products in the library.

3.  Patrons shall not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

4.  Patrons shall not engage in any illegal activity while in the library.

5.  Patrons shall respect the rights of other patrons and shall not harass or annoy others through noisy or boisterous activities, by staring at another person with the intent to annoy that person, by following another person about the building with the intent to annoy that person, by playing audio equipment so that others can hear it, by singing or talking loudly to others or in monologues, or by behaving in a manner which reasonably can be expected to disturb other persons.

6.  Patrons shall not interfere with the use of the library by other patrons or interfere with library employees' performance of their duties,

7.  Any materials removed from the library must be checked out on a valid library card other standard library procedures such as interlibrary loan.

8.  Patrons shall not deface or mar books, magazines, newspaper, recordings or other items of the library collection, nor shall they deface, mar or in any way destroy or damage library furnishings, walls, machines or other library property.

9.  Patrons shall not be permitted to enter the building without a shirt other covering of the upper body or without shoes or other footwear.  Patrons whose bodily hygiene is so offensive as to constitute a nuisance to other patrons may be required to leave the building.

10.  Each patron shall be responsible for any fines, fees or other charges in accordance with the library's standard schedules.  Failure to pay these fines will result in suspension of borrowing privileges.

11.  Children 8 years old and under may not be left in the library without an accompanying adult.

12.  Cell phone use is prohibited in the library.

13.  Abusive patrons may be referred to the Director in charge.  If the patrons continues to be abusive, the police will be called.

14. Parents shall control small children so as not to annoy other patrons using the library.

Any patrons not abiding by these rules and regulations of the library may be required to leave the library premises.  Any patron who violates the library rules and regulations may be denied the privilege of access to the library by the library's Board of Trustees on recommendation of the Director.  Any patron whose privileges have been denied may have the decision reviewed by the Board of Trustees.

This policy supersedes and rescinds all previous policies on this subject matter.  Initiated 6/06

RULES FOR COMPUTER PRIVILIEGE:

1.  Patron must present a library card to gain access to a computer.
2.  Only one person at each computer.
3.  User must remain at assigned computer.
4.  Changing settings or installing programs is prohibited.  Violation of this rule will result in being banned from computer usage.
5.  No MySpace.com for those under 18 years of age.
6.  No instant messaging or chat rooms allowed for those under 18 years of age.
7.  No food or drink allowed at computers.
